Model School Substance Use Policy
The Center for School Behavioral Health, with guidance from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, has developed a Model School Substance Use Policy, with non-punitive graduated responses to address youth substance use in school-based settings.
NOTE:
- The Center for School Behavioral Health is conducting a working group to address the intricacies of 3rd and subsequent responses to youth substance use, considering the realities of recovery high schools, therapeutic settings, and in-patient/residential care.
- This policy is meant to be adapted and developed further to fit the needs of your community.
- This policy was designed for Massachusetts communities and may require additional work to adapt it to reflect other state policies and laws.
